Offer prenatal classes, answer questions regarding breastfeeding and provide support to breastfeeding moms. A sexual health nurse is available regularly in consenting high schools to make it easier for students to access clinical services and to provide confidential counseling on: sexual behaviors, personal responsibility and decision making, relationships and assertiveness (including techniques for negotiating safer sex), methods of contraception’s including abstinence, prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections, sexual orientation and sexual assault/ abuse. Regular sexual health clinics, with a variety of services are also available.
Funding source: Municipal governments, along with a variety of federal and provincial ministries, provide the funding for the health unit’s activities.
